Despite a presidential debate and baseball playoffs, NFL games were the top-rated television program in 13 NFL cities for the television week of October 16-22, according to Nielsen Media Research. In addition, NFL programming accounted for two of the top three programs in four NFL cities.
The five highest local NFL ratings for the week were: Buffalo, 38.0 (Bills at Vikings); Pittsburgh, 37.0 (Browns at Steelers); Kansas City 36.6 (Rams at Chiefs); Minneapolis, 35.0 (Bills at Vikings); and New Orleans, 32.4 (Saints at Falcons).
Following are the 13 NFL markets where football was the top-rated program for the week of October 16-22 (other NFL markets where NFL football was ranked #2 or #3 are not listed):
