BUCS TOP RAMS IN MONDAY NIGHT THRILLER, 38-35
In a rematch of last years NFC Championship game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the St. Louis Rams 38-35 Monday night at Raymond James Stadium to clinch a playoff berth.
The Buccaneers were sparked by RB WARRICK DUNN, who rushed for 145 yards and 3 TDs on 22 carries and had 5 receptions for 54 yards. It was Dunns third 100-yard rushing performance in the last 4 weeks.
Tampa Bay was also led by QB SHAUN KING, who completed 18 of 38 attempts for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed 7 times for 58 yards. King led the team on a 13-play, 80-yard drive for the winning touchdown with less than 3 minutes remaining, making several key plays to keep the drive alive. One play during the drive featured King throwing a swing lateral to Dunn, who as he was being dragged down, pitched back to King, with the quarterback running for 15 yards. The Buccaneers WR KEYSHAWN JOHNSON caught 7 passes for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.
St. Louis RB MARSHALL FAULK scored four touchdowns in a game for the third time this season, the first player in NFL history to accomplish the feat. He also became the second player in NFL history to score four touchdowns in a game in back-to-back contests (Jim Taylor, 1962).
It was the 11th Monday night game to be decided by seven points or less, a season record.
