NFL PLAYERS READ TO STUDENTS, FEED THE HOMELESS THIS "NFL TUESDAY"

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver JERRY RICE will tape a public service announcement with his three children as part of a fatherhood campaign…New York Giants running back TIKI BARBER will cook dinner for children at a Ronald McDonald House in New York City…and Oakland Raiders wide receiver TIM BROWN will visit burn victims of a house-fire in Santa Clara, California this Tuesday, September 26.

These are just some of the activities that NFL players – from third-stringers to superstars – perform every Tuesday during the NFL season.

"NFL Tuesdays" are the traditional day off for NFL players during the season, but many players use their day off to "go to work" in their communities. During the 2000 season, the NFL will highlight these "NFL Tuesdays" community endeavors. The program is designed to raise awareness, both locally and nationally, about the day-off charitable work of NFL players and coaches.

"For years, NFL players and coaches have been working extensively in their communities on their day off," says NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue. "While many of us use our two-day weekend to relax, countless NFL players and coaches use their one day off during the season to give back to their communities. It’s time players received more credit for that."

Following are some of the activities players and club personnel will be participating in this Tuesday (for a complete list, log on to nfl.com):
