WINNERS OF DIRECTV "NFL PLAY OF THE WEEK" AWARD

Quarterback DAUNTE CULPEPPER and wide receiver RANDY MOSS of the Minnesota Vikings are winners of the DirecTV NFL Play of the Week Award for the eighth week of the 2000 season, the NFL announced today.

Trailing Buffalo 27-21 with 3:42 remaining in the game this past Sunday, the Vikings faced a second-and-15 from the Bills’ 39-yard line.

Culpepper took the snap and rolled right, stopped, heaved a pass deep across the field to Moss, who had beaten two defenders deep in the end zone, for the touchdown. Moss had to slow down to make the catch and perfectly controlled his feet in the back of the end zone without stepping out of bounds.

"It was up to me to make the catch," said Moss. "Daunte did his job to put the ball out there where nobody could get it. It was up to me to make the catch and stay in for the touchdown."

In honor of their achievement, DirecTV will make a contribution in the names of Culpepper and Moss to the United Way.

This is the first season of the DirecTV NFL Play of the Week Award. DirecTV will donate a total of $10,000 in the names of the weekly winners to the United Way.
