49ERS DEFEAT PANTHERS SUNDAY NIGHT, 24-14

The San Francisco 49ers topped the Carolina Panthers 24-14 Sunday night behind the passing of QB JEFF GARCIA.

Garcia, who completed 17 of 31 attempts for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns, also rushed for 20 yards and another score.  49ers WR TERRELL OWENS had 8 receptions for 118 yards and caught both Garcia touchdown passes, while RB GARRISON HEARST contributed 74 yards rushing on 18 carries.

The victory marked the 49ers first-ever win against former San Francisco coach GEORGE SIEFERT and was their second prime-time victory in as many weeks (19-17 win over Jets last Monday night).
