Each Sunday evening, the National Football League will e-mail scores, recaps and standings in order to assist you in your coverage of the 2001 regular season.  The e-mail will be sent at approximately 9:00 p.m. ET, following Sunday’s afternoon action.

Detroit – The winless Lions missed a chance to send the game into overtime when rookie QB Mike McMahon threw an incomplete pass on a 2-point conversion with 10 seconds left. Green Bay QB Brett Favre was 18 of 26 for 252 yards with one touchdown, no interceptions and one fumble.  RB Ahman Green rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown and also caught a 35-yard TD pass for the Packers.

Dallas –Broncos K Jason Elam kicked four field goals, helping Denver take a 23-point lead into the fourth quarter. Then the Broncos allowed the Cowboys to score three times before holding on for a 26-24 victory Thursday. Denver WR Rod Smith had seven catches for 81 yards and posted 1,000 yards for the fifth straight season.

Charlotte –Atlanta beat Carolina for the fourth consecutive time, improving their record to 4-1 on the road.  The Falcons held the Panthers inches short on a key fourth-down stop with under 2:00 to play.  Falcons FB Bob Christian accounted for 122 yards, running for 78 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and catching five passes for 44 yards.

Cleveland – Cleveland earned its first shutout since returning to the league Sunday with an 18-0 win over the Bengals, forcing seven turnovers, five on interceptions.  Cincinnati RB Corey Dillon came in to the game averaging 144 yards in five games against Cleveland, but was shut down by the Browns, who held him to 63 yards on 20 carries.  Browns QB Tim Couch went 16-for-27 for 189 yards with two interceptions.

Buffalo –Dolphins QB Jay Fiedler threw three touchdowns passes, including a 32-yarder to rookie Chris Chambers with 48 seconds remaining, sparking the Miami Dolphins to a 34-27 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The Dolphins overcame a 27-17 deficit in the final eight minutes, helped in part when CB Patrick Surtain recovered Bills CB Nate Clements' fumble on a kickoff return, setting up the winning score. Buffalo QB Alex Van Pelt, in his second start in place of injured Rob Johnson, finished 21-for-34 for 309 yards.

Nashville – Pittsburgh QB Kordell Stewart threw for two touchdowns and ran 48 yards for another score as the Steelers stayed atop the AFC Central. Stewart was 19-of-31 for 254 yards passing and ran eight times for 54 yards. Pittsburgh took control of the game in the third quarter, scoring two touchdowns on only five plays. RB Jerome Bettis was held to 73 yards on 21 carries, giving him his sixth straight season with 1,000 yards rushing.

Indianapolis –49ers RB Garrison Hearst rushed for 106 yards and his first two touchdowns in nearly three years and QB Jeff Garcia had a pair of scoring passes as the San Francisco 49ers, despite yielding almost 500 yards, outscored the Colts, 40-21.  Garcia was 14-of-22 for 179 yards with touchdown passes to J.J. Stokes and Terrell Owens, who totaled 103 yards on six receptions.  Colts QB Peyton Manning threw 52 passes for 374 yards, with four interceptions.

Kansas City – Chiefs RB Priest Holmes rushed for 120 yards on 26 carries, catching three passes for 70 yards, including a 55-yard reception that led to RB Mike Cloud’s 15-yard run for the final score of the day. Seattle RB Shaun Alexander, ranked fourth in the NFL with 851 yards rushing, had only 43 yards on 13 carries. He also scored the Seahawks' only touchdown on a 28-yard pass from QB Matt Hasselbeck.

Philadelphia— The Redskins won their fifth straight game with a 13-3 victory over the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the first team in NFL history to reel off five straight wins after an 0-5 start.  RBs Stephen Davis carried 22 times for 79 yards and Ki-Jana Carter had 18 attempts for 56 yards, including a five-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that gave Washington a 7-0 advantage. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb had 15-of-27 for just 92 yards.held Philadelphia to just 186 total yards and seven first downs.

San Diego – The Cardinals won 20-17 on rookie Bill Gramatica's 42-yard field goal with 1 second left. Chargers QB Doug Flutie was 11-for-11 on a tying, 99-yard drive capped by a 6-yard scoring pass to Curtis Conway with less than a minute gone in the fourth quarter. He completed 33 of 44, with no interceptions.  Cardinals QB Plummer was 19-of-31 for 241 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Jacksonville – Ravens QB Elvis Grbac had a three-yard touchdown pass to TE Shannon Sharpe with nine seconds remaining in Baltimore’s victory over Jacksonville.  Grbac finished 21-of-30 for 259 yards with one interception.  The Ravens remain two games behind Pittsburgh in the AFC Central.

New England – Saints QB Tom Brady completed 19 of 27 passes for 258 yards, throwing four touchdown passes to lead the Patriots to a 34-17 victory.  Patriots RB Antowain Smith ran 111 yards on 24 carries, the third time in four games he has gained at least 100 yards.  Saints QB Aaron Brooks’ 7-yard pass to WR Willie Jackson made the score 27-17 with 8:15 left in the game.

New York—Raiders QB Rich Gannon threw two of his three touchdown passes to WR Tim Brown and set up another touchdown with a 20-yard pass to WR Jerry Rice. Gannon, the NFL's highest-rated quarterback, completed 13-of-20 for 221 yards.  Giants RB Tiki Barber provided most of the Giants' offense, rushing for a season-high 124 yards, including a 12-yard third-quarter TD run. Giants K Morten Andersen added a 47-yard field goal.

Minneapolis – The Chicago Bears defeated the Minnesota Vikings 13-6 Sunday night behind RB James Allen, who rushed for 107 yards on 27 carries, and the Bears’ defense.  Chicago held Minnesota’s offense without a touchdown, marking the first time in 98 regular-season games the Vikings did not reach the end zone.  Chicago also held Minnesota QB Daunte Culpepper without a touchdown, the first time this season and only second time in his career (9/3/00 vs. Chicago) he has not thrown for a score.  Chicago, which swept the Vikings for the first time since 1995, improved to 8-2 for the first time since 1991.
