THURSDAY NIGHT GAME
Kansas City – Philadelphia beat Kansas City for their eighth consecutive road win. Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb passed for 269 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 41 yards 9 carries. Eagles running back Duce Staley finished with 146 total yards, including a career-long 46-yard touchdown reception.
SUNDAY EARLY GAMES
Cleveland –Titans quarterback Steve McNair was near perfect against the Browns, completing 11 of 17 passes for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns. Two of his passes went to wide receiver Derrick Mason who had 3 catches for 122 yards. Fellow- wide receiver Kevin Dyson had a big game as well, catching 6 passes for 111 yards. The Titans held Cleveland’s offense to a total of 282 yards.
Pittsburgh – The Steelers rushed for a total of 207 yards against the Vikings. Running back Jerome Bettis went over the 1,000 mark for the sixth consecutive season with Pittsburgh and the eighth time in his career. He carried the ball 19 times for 81 yards, including a 1-yard score. Quarterback Kordell Stewart continued to be efficient in the Steelers’ offense, completing 13 of 19 for 157 yards. The Vikings made a game out of It when backup quarterback Todd Bowman hit running back Michael Bennett with an 80-yard touchdown pass mid-way through the fourth quarter to make the score 21-16. Vikings receiver Randy Moss finished with 8 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown.
East Rutherford, N.J. –Coming back from a 13-0 halftime deficit, the Patriots won behind the consistent play of quarterback Tom Brady. Brady completed 20 of 28 passes for 213 yards. The victory for the Patriots broke a four-game slide against the Jets. The Jets’ offensive spark proved to be its place-kicker John Hall, who scored 10 of the team’s 16 points. Hall was perfect on the day, going 3 for 3 on field goals, including a 50-yarder that put the Jets on top momentarily in the second half.
New Orleans – The Saints’ defense racked up 8 sacks and outgained the Panthers 432 to 150. Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks finished 26 of 40 for 330 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Ricky Williams put together a solid performance with 102 rushing yards on 27 carries and 4 receptions for 72 yards. Williams became the first player in franchise history to record back-to-back 1,000- yard rushing seasons.
Miami –The Dolphins came from behind in the fourth quarter to record their fifth comeback victory this season. Dolphins defensive end Kenny Mixon recorded his first career interception and returned it 56 yards for the go-ahead score. Miami rookie wide receiver Chris Chambers continued to score touchdowns, grabbing a 11-yard Jay Fiedler strike early in the fourth quarter to trim the Broncos deficit to 10-7.
Cincinnati – The Buccaneers earned their first back-to-back victories of the season after John Lynch forced a turnover by Bengals running back Corey Dillon. The fumble set up a 21-yard field goal by Bucs kicker Martin Gramatica to seal the victory. Tampa Bay quarterback Brad Johnson spread the ball around, connecting with 7 different receivers. He finished the game 26 of 33 for 231 yards. Bucs wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, had 7 catches for 85 yards.
Chicago— Chicago Bears running back Leon Johnson scored on a one-yard run with 5:34 left to give the Bears the win. The Bears got solid play from running back James Allen, who amassed 93 yards on 25 carries. Chicago’s defense also contributed with 4 sacks, holding the Lions to 39 total rushing yards.
Baltimore- Ravens free safety Rod Woodson set an NFL record with his 10th career interception return for a touchdown, going 47 yards for the score. The Ravens committed 4 turnovers but rallied to win for the fifth time in six games. Ravens backup running back Moe Williams ran for 111 yards on 24 carries and added 3 receptions for 27 yards. Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis finished the game with 18 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning reached 15,000 passing yard mark in his 58th game the second fastest in history behind Dan Marino (56).
SUNDAY LATE GAMES
Washington – The Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins for an NFL-best ninth consecutive time. Dallas running back Emmitt Smith scored his first touchdown of the season and quarterback Quincy Carter threw the first touchdown pass of his career. Smith finished the game with 102 yards rushing on 25 carries, including a 5-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Carter 64-yard strike to wide receiver Raghib Ismail in the fourth quarter provided to be the big play in the 2nd half for the Cowboys.
Atlanta – Rams quarterback Kurt Warner threw four touchdown passes and running back Marshall Faulk scored 3 touchdowns to propel the Rams to victory over the Falcons. Warner finished the game 17 of 23 for 342 yards, his seventh 300-yard game of the season. Overall, Faulk rushed 12 times for 70 yards and caught 6 catches for 128 yards, including touchdowns of 65, 19 and 9 yards. The Rams defense had 4 sacks and forced two turnovers in the victory. Ravens QB Elvis Grbac had a three-yard touchdown pass to TE Shannon Sharpe with nine seconds remaining in Baltimore’s victory over Jacksonville. Grbac finished 21-of-30 for 259 yards with one interception. The Ravens remain two games behind Pittsburgh in the AFC Central.
Oakland – Cardinal wide receiver David Boston came up big with 6 catches for 106 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter. Boston went over the 100-yard receiving mark for the 7th time in 11 games this season. Cardinal quarterback Jake Plummer went 22 of 38 for 249 yards and a score. Arizona running backs Michael Pittman and Thomas Jones combined for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon threw for over 300 yards for the 3rd time this season. He finished the game 29 of 45 for 302 yards, including 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Seattle— Seahawks place-kicker Rian Lindell provided the game-winning 24-yard kick in overtime to lift Seattle to victory over the Chargers. Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander, who finished the day with 87 yards on 29 carries and one touchdown, gained 29 yards on six carries in Seattle's overtime drive. Seahawks linebacker Antwan Simmons helped the defense to force two Chargers turnovers with 13 tackles and 1 sack.
SUNDAY NIGHT
San Francisco - The San Francisco 49ers (9-2) defeated the Buffalo Bills 35-0 Sunday night to maintain their tie with the St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears for the best record in the league. RB Garrison Hearst and QB Jeff Garcia led the San Francisco offense, with Hearst rushing for 124 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries, and Garcia completing 19 of 27 attempts for 189 yards and 2 scores. 49ers WR Terrell Owens caught 6 passes for 72 yards and his league-leading 13th touchdown of the season. San Francisco CB Ahmed Plummer, who had 2 interceptions and a team-high 7 tackles, led the 49ers’ defense, which registered 2 sacks, forced 4 interceptions and one fumble. Buffalo RB Larry Centers caught 6 passes for 56 yards.
