Each Sunday evening, the National Football League will e-mail scores, recaps and standings in order to assist you in your coverage of the 2001 regular season.  The e-mail will be sent at approximately 9:00 p.m. ET, following Sunday’s afternoon action.

Tennessee – Titans quarterback Steve McNair threw a touchdown pass to receiver Kevin Dyson and also ran for another score. Tampa Bay forced the game into overtime but Titans kicker Joe Nedney was able to connect from 49 yards out for the game-winner. McNair finished 15 for 23 for 230 yards, including a touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 54 yards on 9 carries.

Chicago – R.W. McQuarters returned a third-quarter fumble 69 yards for a touchdown to seal the victory for the Bears. It marked the second time in as many weeks that the Chicago defense provided a touchdown.  Bears running backs James Allen and Anthony Thomas combined for 133 yards on 29 carries, including a one-yard touchdown by James Allen.

Minnesota – The Vikings got a stellar effort from second-year quarterback Daunte Culpepper. He rushed 7 times for 83 yards, including two touchdowns. He also threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Cris Carter late in the third quarter. Lions quarterback Charlie Batch completed 31 of 41 passes for 345 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Cincinnati – In front of a record crowd in 64,217- the largest-ever see a sporting event in Cincinnati, Corey Dillon had his best game of the season. Dillon carried the ball 31 times for 140 yards, including a five-yard run early in the fourth quarter. At 3-2, this is the best start for a Bengals team since 1990.

St. Louis – The Rams were able to pull the game out despite no touchdown passes thrown by quarterback Kurt Warner and 2 fumbles by running back Marshall Faulk.  The Giants’ defense was suffocating, sacking Warner 6 times, 4 of which were by Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, safety Sam Garnes picked Warner off once. Warner finished the game 28 of 46 for 316 yards.

Kansas City – Jerome Bettis continued his dominance against the Chiefs, rushing for over 100 yards for the fifth time in his last 6 games against Kansas City. Bettis carried the ball for 112 yards on 19 carries. Steelers kicker Kris Brown connected on a career-long 55-yard field goal in the second quarter, which tied the Steelers record that was previously held by Gary Anderson.

Carolina – New Orleans quarterback Aaron Brooks led the Saints on a game-winning, 13-play, 82- yard drive, capped off by a one-yard Ricky Williams touchdown run with no time remaining. The touchdown was set-up by key receptions from receivers Willie Jackson and Joe Horn. Ricky Williams rushed for 147 yards on 31 carries. He also added 4 receptions for 31 yards. Saints tight end Cam Cleeland caught two first-half touchdowns to give the Saints an early 17-0 lead.

New England – The game was forced into overtime by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s 3-yard pass to Jermaine Wiggins with 36 seconds to play. In overtime, Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri connected from 44 yards out for the game-winner. Brady finished the game 33 of 54 for 364 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions. Vinatieri was 3-for-3 on field goals for the day.

Green Bay – Brett Favre had a highlight performance against the defending Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens. Favre finished 27 of 34 for 337 yards, including 3 touchdown passes. Antonio Freeman had 9 catches for 138 yards and a score. Packers tight end Bubba Franks caught the other two touchdown passes by Favre to seal the victory. Ravens quarterback Elvis Grbac was picked off twice by Packers defenders.

Atlanta – 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia brought his team back from a 13-point defecit to an overtime victory. Garcia accounted for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns. He threw for 332 yards, completing 27 of 42 passes and 3 touchdowns, and rushed 14 times for 70 yards and a score. In overtime, Garcia hit wide receiver Terell Owens with the game-winning 52-yard strike. Owens hadt 9 receptions for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns.

New York – The Jets extended their winning streak to 7 straight over the Dolphins after battling back from being down 17-0. Quarterback led the Jets back by throwing 2 second-half touchdown passes to receiver Laveranues Coles to spark the victory. Jets running back Curtis Martin had another solid performance with 22 carries for 120 yards, including a 27-yard scamper in the third quarter to bring the Jets within 3.3. Miami had a chance to go up in the final moments on the Jets 6, quarterback Jay Fiedler threw into double coverage and was picked off by Jets linebacker Marvin Jones in the end zone.

Seattle – Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander toppled the 100-yard for the second consecutive week. Alexander carried the ball 33 times for 142 yards, including 2 touchdown runs, one of which a career-long of 60 yards. The Seahawks also got excellent support from their defense, sacking Broncos quarterback Brian Griese three times and picking him off 3 times as well. Safety Reggie Tongue registered 10 tackles, one sack and two interceptions, in which one he returned 55 yards for a touchdown. Seahawks quarterback Trent Dilfer extended his winning streak as a starter to 13 consecutive games with a victory.

Indianapolis - In a tight defensive game, the Oakland Raiders, led by K Sebastian Janikowski and QB Rich Gannon, topped the Indianapolis Colts 23-18 Sunday night.  Janikowski scored 11 points, including three field goals from 39, 42 and 37 yards, while Gannon, who completed 18 of 32 attempts for 243 yards, led Oakland on a 6-minute-49 second clock-eating drive late in the fourth quarter that accounted for Janikowski’s final points and kept the Colts off the field.  Oakland WR Tim Brown caught 7 passes for 145 yards, the 40th100-yard receiving game in his career.  Colts QB Peyton Manning completed 26 of 41 attempts for 241 yards and two touchdowns, both to WR Marvin Harrison (8 catches for 60 yards), while RB Edgerrin James rushed for 116 yards on 26 carries.

Dallas - The Dallas Cowboys drove 59 yards to the Washington 8-yard line late in the game to come from behind and defeat the Washington Redskins 9-7 Monday night on a 26-yard Tim Seder field goal.  Dallas was led by RB Emmitt Smith, who rushed for 107 yards on 25 carries and also caught 5 passes for 45 yards.  Seder scored Dallas’ points on three field goals from 28, 39 and 26-yards.  Washington QB Tony Banks completed 10 of 18 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown to WR Michael Westbrook, while RB Stephen Davis rushed for 99 yards on 23 attempts.  The victory marked Dallas’ eighth consecutive victory over Washington, the longest such streak in the rivalry’s history.
