NFL TUESDAYS:

PLAYERS IN THE COMMUNITY ON THEIR DAYS OFF

NFL players are going back to school this Tuesday, November 27.

Vikings CB ROBERT TATE, the team spokesman for D.A.R.E., will lead an assembly at Cooper High School along with teammates CB WASSWA SERWANGA, QB SPERGON WYNN, DT SHAWN WORTHEN, OT LEWIS KELLY and DE JEFF HAZUGA.  In Phoenix, Cardinals kicker BILL GRAMATICA will participate in the Santa Maria Middle School’s “Career Day Fair.”  Students in Chicago public schools will get a visit from Bears DE BRYAN ROBINSON and CB JERRY AZUMAH, while Jets players will visit schools in Brooklyn as part of the Jets Geography School Visits.

In the 2001 season, the NFL highlights these day-off community endeavors with a program entitled “NFL Tuesdays.”  The program raises awareness, both locally and nationally, about the day-off charitable work of NFL players and coaches.

“For years, NFL players and coaches have been working extensively in their communities on their day off,” says NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue.  “While many of us use our two-day weekend to relax, countless NFL players and coaches use their one day off during the season to give back to their communities.  It’s time players received more credit for that.”

Every week, the NFL gathers information from its clubs about player and coach activities scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday.  The information then will be distributed to media and fans.

Following are some of the activities players and coaches will be participating in this Tuesday, November 27 (for a complete list, log on to NFL.com:
