NFL TUESDAYS:

PLAYERS IN THE COMMUNITY ON THEIR DAYS OFF

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6 and the Minnesota Vikings are working the get the word out about the importance of voting.

Vikings Head Coach DENNIS GREEN, along with T BRAD BADGER, C MIKE MALANO, S BRIAN RUSSELL and C CORY WITHROW, will meet voters at the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center and Pilot City Neighborhood Center to thank citizens for participating in the democratic process.

Meanwhile, OT LEWIS KELLY and G DAVID DIXON will visit the Bancroft Elementary School to speak to the students about the importance of being a U.S. Citizen and voting.

In Cleveland, Browns DB COREY FULLER will speak with the voters of tomorrow as well.

Fuller will visit the students who participate in “Making the Grade.”  In 1999, he established this by adopting five local schools within the Cleveland Municipal School District.  Students at these five schools are “Making the Grade” in math and reading and work towards regular attendance and good behavior.  Fuller rewards one exemplary student from each school with two tickets, a game program, and a limousine ride to an upcoming home game.

In the 2001 season, the NFL highlights these day-off community endeavors with a program entitled “NFL Tuesdays.”  The program raises awareness, both locally and nationally, about the day-off charitable work of NFL players and coaches.

“For years, NFL players and coaches have been working extensively in their communities on their day off,” says NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue.  “While many of us use our two-day weekend to relax, countless NFL players and coaches use their one day off during the season to give back to their communities.  It’s time players received more credit for that.”

Every week, the NFL gathers information from its clubs about player and coach activities scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday.  The information then will be distributed to media and fans.

Following are some of the activities players and coaches will be participating in this November 6 (for a complete list, log on to NFL.com):
