RAVENS TOP BRONCOS WITH HELP OF RECORD RETURN

The Baltimore Ravens came into Monday night searching for their first win of 2002 and they found it in remarkable fashion with a 34-23 victory over the visiting Denver Broncos.

Baltimore set a team record with a 31-point second quarter, which was capped by the longest return for a touchdown in NFL history.  With one second left before halftime, Broncos K JASON ELAM was short on a 57-yard field-goal attempt.  Ravens CB CHRIS MC ALLISTER caught the errant kick eight yards deep in his end zone and, after a slight hesitation, returned it 108 yards for a touchdown.

The return, which topped the previous record of 106 yards, was aided by a crushing block from Ravens LB RAY LEWIS, who had 11 solo tackles and seven assisted to go along with an interception.

Baltimore QB CHRIS REDMAN got his first win as an NFL starter, completing 13 of 24 passes for 152 yards and two touchdown strikes to TE TODD HEAP.
