VANDERJAGT’S
50-YARDERS LEAD COLTS PAST BRONCOS
Indianapolis’ MIKE VANDERJAGT kicked three field goals Sunday night,
including a 54-yarder to send the game into overtime and a 51-yard
game-winner in the extra period, as the Colts overcame the elements and the
Denver Broncos for a 23-20 victory.
Amidst a heavy snowfall, Indianapolis QB PEYTON MANNING completed 27
of 44 passes for 229 yards, 11 completions and 107 yards of which went to
WR MARVIN HARRISON. Colts RB EDGERRIN JAMES added 84 yards and a
touchdown on the ground as Indianapolis won its third game in a row to move
atop the AFC South with a 7-4 record.
Denver’s rookie RB CLINTON PORTIS rushed 18 times for 88 yards and 2
touchdowns in a losing effort. Broncos QB STEVE BEUERLEIN completed
15 of 24 attempts for 185 yards with a touchdown pass to WR ROD SMITH.
Vanderjagt’s 54-yard
field goal with 0:03 left in the game was the third-longest kick to send a
game into overtime in NFL history. |
