REDSKINS JUMP
TO BIG LEAD, DEFEAT COLTS
The Washington Redskins scored on
their first four possessions Sunday night to open up a 20-0 lead in an
eventual 26-21 victory over the visiting Indianapolis Colts.
QB SHANE MATTHEWS,
starting for the first time since Week 3, threw for 210 yards and two
touchdowns. Redskins RB STEPHEN DAVIS ran for 80 yards on 16 carries
in the first half and RB KENNY WATSON had 15 carries for 67 yards,
the bulk of which came on the decisive fourth-quarter drive.
Colts QB PEYTON
MANNING did his best to dig Indianapolis out of its early hole,
finishing the game 21 of 32 for 214 yards with 2 touchdowns. But after
bringing the Colts to within 23-21 on a 20-yard pass to RB RICKY WILLIAMS
with just under seven minutes to play in the game, Manning’s pass to WR
QADRY ISMAIL was broken up by Redskins CB FRED SMOOT on the
two-point conversion attempt.
Washington ate up the
remainder of the clock with a 14-play, 66-yard drive that ended with a
JAMES TUTHILL 22-yard field goal with 18 seconds left in the game. |
