JETS DEFEAT DOLPHINS ON HALL’S FIELD GOAL

The New York Jets moved to within one game of the AFC East lead by handing the division-rival Miami Dolphins a 13-10 defeat Sunday night on a 28-yard field goal by K JOHN HALL with 2:17 left in the game.

Jets RB CURTIS MARTIN carried 19 times for 74 yards and scored New York’s lone touchdown on a six-yard run in the first quarter.  WR LAVERANEAUS COLES led the Jets in receiving with 5 catches for 80 yards and made a key play on New York’s game-winning scoring drive, hauling in a deep pass from QB CHAD PENNINGTON for a 42-yard gain.

Dolphins QB RAY LUCAS passed for 227 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort as Miami tied the game at 10-10 midway through the third quarter. 

The outcome of Sunday night’s game left things crowded in the AFC East with Miami, New England and Buffalo sitting atop the division at 5-4 and the Jets a game behind at 4-5.
