November 4, 2002 Giants Defeat Jaguars 24-17 Sunday Night The New York Giants took a 24-0 lead mid-way through the third quarter Sunday night and held on to defeat the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 24-17. Giants RB TIKI BARBER ran for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns, the second of which proved to be the final margin of victory. Barber added 62 yards receiving, catching 4 passes from QB KERRY COLLINS. Collins finished 20 of 28 for 228 yards, with a touchdown pass to WR RON DIXON. Jaguars QB MARK BRUNELL attempted to rally his team late, throwing two fourth-quarter touchdown passes. Brunell’s second scoring strike with just under two minutes left in the game, to WR JIMMY SMITH, brought the Jaguars within a touchdown. However Jacksonville’s onside kick attempt was recovered by New York and the Giants ran out the clock to clinch the victory. |
