Giants Defeat Jaguars 24-17 Sunday Night

The New York Giants took a 24-0 lead mid-way through the third quarter Sunday night and held on to defeat the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 24-17.

Giants RB TIKI BARBER ran for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns, the second of which proved to be the final margin of victory.  Barber added 62 yards receiving, catching 4 passes from QB KERRY COLLINS.  Collins finished 20 of 28 for 228 yards, with a touchdown pass to WR RON DIXON.

Jaguars QB MARK BRUNELL attempted to rally his team late, throwing two fourth-quarter touchdown passes.  Brunell’s second scoring strike with just under two minutes left in the game, to WR JIMMY SMITH, brought the Jaguars within a touchdown.

However Jacksonville’s onside kick attempt was recovered by New York and the Giants ran out the clock to clinch the victory.
