October 8, 2002FAVRE LEADS PACKERS PAST BEARSOn a night when Green Bay’s BRETT FAVRE became the quarterback to reach 40,000 passing yards the third fastest in NFL history, his Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 34-21 in Champaign, Illinois. Favre came out of the gates firing, connecting with WR DONALD DRIVER on an 85-yard touchdown pass in the first five minutes of the game. Favre added two more touchdown strikes and accumulated 287 yards passing in the first half alone, finishing with 359 yards on the night. Chicago kept the game close until QB JIM MILLER’s pass was intercepted by Green Bay DE KABEER GBAJA-BIAMILA, who returned it 72 yards for a score. Miller completed 27 of 49 passes for 353 yards and three scores in the losing effort. Only quarterbacks DAN MARINO (153 games) and WARREN MOON (165) reached 40,000 passing yards faster than Favre, who played in his 166th game Monday night. |
