LIONS QB JOEY HARRINGTON & BRONCOS RB CLINTON PORTIS  

AS FEDEX NFL AIR & GROUND PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Quarterback JOEY HARRINGTON of the Detroit Lions and running back CLINTON PORTIS of the Denver Broncos are the FEDEX NFL AIR & GROUND PLAYERS OF THE WEEK for games played on NFL Kickoff Weekend (September 4, 7-8), the NFL announced today. 

Harrington completed 17 of 30 pass attempts for 195 yards and four touchdowns for a passer rating of 116.0 in the Lions’ 42-24 win over Arizona. 

Portis rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in the Broncos’ 30-10 win over Cincinnati.  He also caught five passes for 39 yards.

Harrington and Portis were selected from among three finalists in the “express” and “ground” categories.  The other FedEx express player of the week finalists were Arizona Cardinals quarterback JEFF BLAKE and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback TOMMY MADDOX, while Seattle Seahawks running back SHAUN ALEXANDER and New York Giants running back TIKI BARBER were the other finalists for the FedEx ground player of the week.
