September 15, 2003 VIKINGS DEFEAT BEARS 24-13 IN NFC NORTH BATTLE The Minnesota Vikings improved to 2-0 with a 24-13 victory over the NFC North division-rival Chicago Bears on Sunday night in Minneapolis. Vikings RB MOE WILLIAMS rushed 21 times for 108 yards and one touchdown, and QB DAUNTE CULPEPPER completed 20 of 26 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns, both to TE JIMMY KLEINSASSER. Minnesota has started the season with two victories for the first time since 2000 when it went to the NFC championship game. Chicago was led by QB KORDELL STEWART, who completed 13 of his 21 passes for 137 yards including a 14-yard touchdown pass to WR DAVID TERRELL. RB ANTHONY THOMAS carried 10 times for 56 yards while Stewart added 26 yards rushing. The Bears have a bye in Week 3 while the Vikings will attempt to improve to 3-0 when they travel to Detroit for another NFC North battle against the Lions. |
