September 22, 2003 DOLPHINS TOP BILLS ON SUNDAY NIGHT The Miami Dolphins improved to 2-1 with their second consecutive win over an AFC East division rival, defeating the Buffalo Bills 17-7 on Sunday night in Miami. RB RICKY WILLIAMS carried the ball 42 times for 153 yards and one touchdown, helping the Dolphins control the football for more than 40 minutes of the game. QB JAY FIEDLER got Miami on the scoreboard shortly before halftime, throwing a 12-yard touchdown pass to WR CHRIS CHAMBERS. Bills CB NATE CLEMENTS returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to make the score 10-7. But Miami’s defense, which recorded four sacks and forced three Buffalo interceptions, kept the Bills from ever taking the lead and Williams ended the scoring with a one-yard touchdown dive with just over three minutes remaining. Miami has a bye in Week 4 while Buffalo hosts the Philadelphia Eagles. |
