September 29, 2003 COLTS DEFEAT SAINTS BEHIND MANNING’S "PERFECT GAME" The Indianapolis Colts, lead by QB PEYTON MANNING, handed the New Orleans Saints a 55-21 loss in New Orleans on Sunday night. Manning threw for 314 yards, completing 20 of 25 attempts with six touchdown passes, to earn a passer rating of 158.3, which by quarterbacking standards is considered a “perfect game.” Manning’s six touchdown passes were one short of the NFL record of seven shared by Sid Luckman, Adrian Burk, George Blanda, Y.A. Tittle and Joe Kapp. The All-Pro quarterback had help from his favorite target, WR MARVIN HARRISON, who caught touchdown passes of 14, 79 and 32 yards en route to six receptions for 158 yards. Saints RB DEUCE MC ALLISTER carried 17 times for 101 yards and one touchdown in a losing effort. Indianapolis travels to Tampa Bay in Week 5 for a Monday-night showdown with the Buccaneers while New Orleans faces the Panthers in Carolina on Sunday. |
