December 16, 2003 EAGLES SOAR PAST DOLPHINS IN MIAMI The Philadelphia Eagles took another step towards earning the NFC East division title and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, defeating the Miami Dolphins 34-27 in Miami Monday night. Eagles QB DONOVAN MC NABB completed 15 of 27 passes for 236 yards and ran for one touchdown, leading Philadelphia to its eleventh win in its past 12 games. RB BRIAN WESTBROOK ran 21 yards for the first touchdown of the game and caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from WR FREDDIE MITCHELL in the second quarter. RB CORRELL BUCKHALTER supplied the Eagles with their final touchdown on a two-yard run. Miami QB JAY FIEDLER threw for 240 yards and ran for one touchdown in the loss. RB RICKY WILLIAMS carried 18 times for 107 yards and one touchdown while TE RANDY MC MICHAEL caught seven passes for 95 yards. Philadelphia can now clinch a division title and first-round bye with a win next Sunday versus San Francisco. At 8-6, Miami will have to win its final two games, beginning next Sunday with the Buffalo Bills, and hope for the teams ahead of it to lose in order to make the playoffs. |
