49ERS DEFEAT STEELERS 30-14 ON MONDAY NIGHT

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-14 at home on Monday night in a battle of two teams trying to stay alive in the playoff race.

The 49ers improved to 5-5 under the leadership of QB TIM RATTAY, who completed 21 of 27 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns.  WR TERRELL OWENS caught eight passes from Rattay for 155 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown reception.

San Francisco RB GARRISON HEARST carried 20 times for 67 yards while RB KEVAN BARLOW added 98 yards on eight carries, highlighted by a 78-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that proved to be the winning score.

Steelers QB TOMMY MADDOX attempted to keep Pittsburgh in the game, throwing for 327 yards on 25 of 44 passing with one touchdown.  WR PLAXICO BURRESS led the Steelers with six receptions for 92 yards while WR ANTWAAN RANDLE EL caught four passes for 61 yards and one touchdown.

San Francisco travels to Green Bay in Week 12 for a showdown with the Packers while 3-7 Pittsburgh goes to Cleveland to face the AFC North division-rival Browns.
