Week #13 Nominees
Matt Schobel, TE -
Cincinnati Bengals- Game-winning 18-yard touchdown reception from Jon Kitna
The Bengals
second-year tight end catches an 18-yard touchdown from Jon Kitna in the
back of the end zone with only 13 seconds remaining in the Bengals’ 24-20
road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Schobel’s only reception on the
afternoon capped a four-play, 52-yard drive in the final minute that allowed
the Bengals to keep a share of the AFC North lead with Baltimore. The two
teams will battle for sole possession of the division lead next week in
Baltimore.
Willie McGinest,
DE - New England Patriots - Game-saving goal-line tackle
With only
14 seconds remaining in a battle between two of the AFC’s elite teams, the
Patriots veteran defensive end stops Indianapolis running back Edgerrin
James in the backfield on fourth down on the New England one yard line. The
game-saving tackle preserved New England's 38-34 road win and helped the
Patriots improve to an AFC East leading 10-2 record. The win marks the
first time in team history that the Patriots have won 10 of their first 12
games.
Chris Chambers, WR - Miami Dolphins - Six-yard touchdown reception from Jay
Fiedler
With only 16
seconds remaining in the first half, the Dolphins big-play wide receiver
makes an out-stretched catch in the back of the end zone for his second of
three spectacular touchdowns. The six-yard touchdown gave the Dolphins a
23-14 halftime lead in their 40-21 road victory over the Cowboys on
Thanksgiving Day. Chambers finished the game with five catches for 96 yards
and three scores. This play marks the second time this season (week 1
against Houston) Chambers has been nominated for the NFL Play of the Week
- Presented by LEVITRA – for a dazzling out-stretched touchdown grab in
the back of the end zone.
Jimmy Smith, WR - Jacksonville Jaguars - Game-winning 48-yard touchdown
reception from Byron Leftwich
With 10
minutes remaining in a nationally televised in-state battle with the Super
Bowl Champion Buccaneers, the Jaguars all-time leading receiver catches a
Byron Leftwich pass while diving into the end zone for a 48-yard score. The
touchdown proved to be the game-winner as Smith finished the game with a
season-high 10 receptions for 136 yards. During the game, Smith and his
former Jaguar teammate Keenan McCardell became the 16th and 17th players in
NFL history to catch at least 700 passes in their career.
James Thrash, WR -
Philadelphia Eagles - 10-yard touchdown reception from Donovan McNabb
Clinging to a
six-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Eagles veteran wide receiver
catches a pass from Donovan McNabb and dives through several Carolina
Panthers defenders on his way to a 10-yard second-half touchdown. Thrash’s
touchdown helped the Eagles win their seventh consecutive game and moved
Philadelphia one game ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.
