Week #1 Nominees

Joe Jurevicius, WR – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Tipped 7-yard diving touchdown reception from Brad Johnson

The Buccaneers big wide receiver tips a Brad Johnson pass in the air at the two yard-line, slips around a defender and makes a lunging reception in the end zone for his second touchdown in Tampa Bay’s 17-0 win over Philadelphia in a rematch of the 2002 NFC Championship Game.  Jurevicius finished the night with four catches for 39 yards and two scores.

Sam Adams, DT - Buffalo Bills - 37-yard interception return for a touchdown in his Bills debut

The newly acquired 335-pound defensive tackle catches a tipped ball and rumbles 37-yards for a second quarter touchdown. Adams second career touchdown paced the Bills to a 31-0 shutout of division rival New England. In a division that had one game separating the first place Jets and the fourth place Bills a year ago, this was a very big win for the Bills.

Marcus Coleman, CB - Houston Texans - Late interception sets up the game-winning field goal

The Texans cornerback steps in front of a Jay Fielder pass and tip toes the sideline late in the fourth quarter to set up an eventual 35-yard Kris Brown game-winning field goal. The interception, one of the Texans’ two on the day, helped the Texans to a 21-20 upset road win over the Dolphins.   The interception helped the Texans snap the Dolphins 11-game opening-day win streak and marked the Dolphins first home loss in August or September since 1994.

Chris Chambers, WR - Miami Dolphins - One Handed 21-yard touchdown reception from Jay Fiedler

The Dolphins wide receiver makes an acrobatic one-handed touchdown reception versus the Texans just before halftime. The touchdown was the third-year wide receiver's second score of the day in the Dolphins 21-20 loss to the Texans. Despite the loss Chambers caught 7 passes for 118 yards.

Jake Delhomme, QB - Carolina Panthers - 12-yard game winning TD pass to Ricky Proehl in his Panthers debut

Playing in relief of the injured Rodney Peete, the Panthers backup quarterback hits Ricky Proehl on a fade route on fourth down for his third touchdown of the day. The touchdown completed the Panthers dramatic 24-23, 17-point come-from-behind, win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. In just over a half of work Delhomme was able to jumpstart the Panthers offense leading them to all 22 of the Panthers offensive points in his Carolina debut.
