Week #6 Nominees

Randal Williams, WR - Dallas Cowboys - 37-yard kickoff-return touchdown

Just three seconds into a key NFC East match-up against the Philadelphia Eagles, Randal Williams spoils an onside kick on the opening kickoff by returning it for a touchdown. The 37-yard kickoff-return touchdown was the fastest score to begin a game since 1970. The heads-up special-teams touchdown proved to be the difference as the Cowboys won 23-21 upping their record to an NFC East leading 4-1.

Ed Reed, S - Baltimore Ravens - 20-yard blocked-punt return touchdown

The Ravens' first touchdown came when safety Ed Reed burst through the middle of the Cardinals line to block a Scott Player punt.  An alert Reed chased down the ball and returned it 20 yards for a score to put the Ravens up 16-7.  Baltimore went on to defeat the Arizona Cardinals 26-18.   Reed is the third Raven to be nominated for NFL Play of the Week - Presented by LEVITRA - Jamal Lewis was nominated in week two and Alan Ricard was nominated in week three.

Ricky Williams, RB - Miami Dolphins - 14-yard touchdown run

The Dolphins workhorse running back takes a Jay Fiedler handoff runs left then reverses field and receives several blocks en route to Miami’s first score of the game. The 14-yard touchdown run fueled Miami’s 24-10 win over the in-state rival Jaguars. Williams finished the day with 75 yards on 19 carries.

Phil Dawson, K - Cleveland Browns - 14-yard fake field goal run

With his team trailing 7-3 in the fourth quarter against the Raiders, Cleveland's veteran kicker takes a Chris Gardocki pitch 14-yards to the Raiders five-yard line.  The fake field goal set up William Green’s five-yard touchdown that put the Browns up for good 10-7.   Dawson also added the extra point and a field goal later in the Browns’ 13-7 win over the Raiders.

Rod Smith, WR - Denver Broncos - 11-yard touchdown reception from Steve Beuerlein

With nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and his team clinging to a one-point lead, the Broncos' receiver makes a leaping 11-yard touchdown reception over a Pittsburgh Steelers defender. Smith’s dazzling catch helped the Broncos improve to 5-1 with a 17-14 win as Smith finished the day with 70 yards on four receptions.
