Week #8 Nominees
Joe Horn, WR -
New Orleans Saints - 14-yard touchdown reception from Aaron Brooks
Trailing
Carolina 10-0 early in the second quarter, Horn makes a 14-yard
over-the-head circus catch in the middle of the end zone to cut the deficit
to three. The score would be Horn’s first of two scores in the game, which
New Orleans lost in overtime 23-20.
Jerry Azumah,
CB - Chicago Bears - 89-yard kickoff-return for touchdown
On the second-half kickoff, the Bears fifth-year cornerback delivered the
decisive blow against the Detroit Lions, their divisional rivals, with an
89-yard kickoff-return for a touchdown. The score gave Chicago a 17-0 lead
en route to a 24-16 victory. Azumah also intercepted a Joey Harrington pass
on the ensuing possession. Azumah's kick return for a score was Chicago's
first since 1998. With the win the Bears improved its record to 2-5.
Reggie Wayne,
WR - Indianapolis Colts - 57-yard touchdown reception from Peyton Manning
Colts quarterback Peyton Manning finds wide receiver Reggie Wayne down the
sideline for a 57-yard touchdown on the second play of the second half.
Wayne’s second touchdown reception of the game, which put the Colts up
24-10, proved to be the decisive score over the Houston Texans as
Indianapolis won 30-21.
Antwaan Randle
El, WR - Pittsburgh Steelers - 84-yard punt-return for touchdown
Early in the first quarter, trailing 7-0, the Steelers versatile wide
receiver fielded a punt and returned it 84-yards for the game-tying score.
The punt-return from Randle El was good for the second longest in franchise
history and was his first score of the season.
Frank Walker,
CB - New York Giants - Game-sealing fourth quarter interception
After taking the lead with five minutes remaining in the game, rookie
cornerback Frank Walker stepped in front of a Daunte Culpepper pass and
returned it 18-yards. Giants quarterback Kerry Collins then connected with
Ike Hilliard three plays later sealing the win and handing Minnesota their
first loss of the 2003 season. Walker handed Culpepper his first
interception of the season.
