NFL TUESDAYS -- PLAYERS IN THE COMMUNITY
PLAYERS VISIT STUDENTS IN HONOR OF “NFL HIGH SCHOOL TUESDAY”

NFL players will go back to school on Tuesday, November 18 in celebration of NFL High School Tuesday.  In cooperation with the NFL and the NFL Players Association, one high school in every NFL city has won an NFL player visit through the NFLHS.com player visit contest. Students entered their high schools for an NFL player visit on the NFL’s official high school football web site.

NFL players will meet with students to share their own high school experiences and discuss how those years helped shape them into adults.

The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS will spend their High School Tuesday with the Madison Park Vocational Tech football team. Players from both teams will serve dinner to the homeless at Boston's Pine Street Inn.

The SAN FRANCISCO 49ers will participate in Project FUEL Rally, a 49ers "wellness" program that focuses on nutrition, exercise, safety and living healthy. This school wide visit includes meeting with the Santa Clara High School student council and leadership class and a lunch-time pep rally.  Afterwards, the players will meet with the varsity and junior varsity football teams, addressing "wellness" topics, such as dealing with stressful situations, eating healthy, preparing for games and having an offseason regimen.

Students logging on to NFLHS.com on NFL High School Tuesday may answer trivia questions to win NFLHS.com merchandise, including NFLHS.com t-shirts, hats, and water bottles.

"NFL Tuesdays" are the traditional day off for NFL players during the season, but many players use their day off to go to work in their communities.

Entering its fifth year, NFLHS.com reports stories on NFL players and coaches related to high school football including weekly state-by-state prep gridiron news with more than 1,100 high school football articles and columns annually. NFLHS.com is part of the NFL Internet Network, comprising of NFL.com, team and other sites. The NFL Internet Network is the world’s most popular sports league online entity.

Tuesday is the traditional day off for NFL players during the season.  It is the day players escape the rigors of pro football and get reacquainted with rest and relaxation.  But many players also use their day off to “go to work” in their communities.

The NFL highlights these day-off community endeavors with a program entitled “NFL Tuesdays.” The program is designed to raise awareness, both locally and nationally, about the day-off charitable work of NFL players and coaches.

“For years, NFL players and coaches have been working extensively in their communities on their day off,” says NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue.  “While many of us use our two-day weekend to relax, countless NFL players and coaches use their one day off during the season to give back to their communities.  It’s time players received more credit for that.”
