NFL.COM VOTERS SELECT JETS LB VICTOR HOBSON

AS PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice.  Linebacker VICTOR HOBSON of the New York Jets is the PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK for games played on December 27-28, the NFL announced today.

Hobson had four tackles and an interception in the Jets’ 23-21 loss to Miami.  He recorded his first career interception in the end zone, stopping a potential scoring drive, and returned it 26 yards.  

More than 64,000 fans voted this week on NFL.com.  Hobson was selected from among five finalists.  The other finalists were Detroit Lions linebacker BOSS BAILEY, Houston Texans running back DOMANICK DAVIS, Cleveland Browns running back LEE SUGGS, and St. Louis Rams linebacker PISA TINOISAMOA.

Five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors Friday, January 2.  Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com through Thursday, January 22.  The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston.

This is Pepsi’s second year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL.
