Running back DOMANICK DAVIS of the Houston Texans is the PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK for games played on October 19-20, the NFL announced today. Davis rushed for 129 yards on 27 carries and caught nine passes for 70 yards in the Texans’ 19-14 loss to the New York Jets. Davis, in his first career start, became the first 100-yard rusher in Texans history with his first career 100-yard game. More than 27,000 fans voted this week on NFL.com. Davis was selected from among five finalists. The other finalists were Baltimore Ravens quarterback KYLE BOLLER, St. Louis Rams running back ARLEN HARRIS, Minnesota Vikings running back ONTERRIO SMITH and Seattle Seahawks cornerback MARCUS TRUFANT. After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston. This is Pepsi’s second year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL. 2003 PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
