CHIEFS DEFEAT TITANS 49-38 ON MONDAY NIGHT

In a game that saw 925 yards of total offense, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Tennessee Titans 49-38 on Monday night.

The Titans took the lead 38-35 on K GARY ANDERSON’s 27-yard field goal with 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter.  The Chiefs answered with a seven play, 64-yard drive capped by a nine-yard touchdown pass from QB TRENT GREEN to WR EDDIE KENNISON.

The Chiefs then added seven more points when LB KAWIKA MITCHELL returned a Titan fumble 39 yards for a touchdown to cap the wild night.

Kansas City rookie RB LARRY JOHNSON had his second consecutive 100-yard game, including touchdown runs from 46 and 41 yards respectively.

Titans QB BILLY VOLEK and WR DREW BENNENTT had career days while keeping Tennessee within striking distance.  Volek completed 29 of 43 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns.  Bennett was on the receiving end for 12 of those passes, accumulating 233 yards--a league receiving-yardage high this season--and three touchdowns.
