LATE SECOND FIELD GOAL LIFTS COLTS PAST VIKINGS 31-28

The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Minnesota Vikings on K MIKE VANDERJEGT’s 35-yard field goal with two seconds remaining on Monday night.

Colts QB PEYTON MANNING orchestrated A nine-play, 55-yard drive for the winning score, including a key 15-yard scramble.  Manning finished the game 23 of 29 for 268 yards and four touchdowns.

Minnesota’s QB DAUNTE CULPEPPER and special teams kept the Vikings in the game.  Culpepper completed 16 of 19 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown, including an 8-yard strike to WR NATE BURLESON that tied the game at 21 in the fourth quarter.  Burleson also had a 91-yard punt return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Colts RB EDGERRIN JAMES topped the 100-yard barrier by rushing 26 times for 123 yards.

Vikings RB ONTERIO SMITH tied the game at 28 with just under three minutes remaining with 24-yard touchdown run.  Smith carried the ball 13 times for 80 yards on the evening.
