Fans can vote for one of these five players on NFL.com beginning Tuesday morning and ending on Thursday afternoon to determine the PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK. The PEPSI NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK will be announced Thursday afternoon on NFL.com. After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville. A closer look at the finalists: · Arizona’s Karlos Dansby recorded three tackles and one sack and recovered one fumble in the Cardinals’ 6-3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Dansby was part of a defensive effort by the Cardinals that held Atlanta to just 283 total yards.· San Diego’s Nate Kaeding kicked two field goals and one extra point in the Chargers’ 23-13 loss to the Denver Broncos. Kaeding, who is four-of-four on field goal attempts this season, connected on a 51-yarder against Denver.· Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger completed 12 of 22 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown in the Steelers’ 13-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. In his first career start, Roethlisberger connected with wide receiver Hines Ward on a seven-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown pass to help seal the win.· Detroit’s Roy Williams caught nine passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 30-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams recorded his first NFL 100-yard receiving game and leads the team with 17 receptions for 277 yards and four touchdowns on the season.· New York Giants’ Gibril Wilson recorded a team-high seven tackles and one interception in the Giants’ 27-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Fans can vote for one player in each category on NFL.com from Tuesday morning through noon on Thursday to determine the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. The FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week will be announced Thursday on NFL.com and Friday in USA Today. Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are a win for the local community. Along with the award, FedEx will donate $5,000 every week to the local children’s hospital in each winning market. The children’s hospitals in the two season-long winner’s markets, announced at this year’s Super Bowl, will be awarded $25,000 each. That means that FedEx will deliver nearly $250,000 to local children’s hospitals around the country in recognition of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Award winners. A closer look at the FedEx Express NFL Player of the Week finalists: · Green Bay’s Brett Favre completed 30 of 44 pass attempts for 360 yards and 4 touchdowns with a passer rating of 123.3 in the Packers’ 45-31 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Favre’s first touchdown to wide receiver Javon Walker in the first quarter gave the quarterback a streak of 28 consecutive games with a touchdown pass.· Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning passed for 393 yards and five touchdowns, completing 28 of 40 attempts for a 140.9 passer rating in the Colts’ 45-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers. All five of Manning’s touchdown passes came in the first half, including three in the first quarter.· Philadelphia’s Donovan McNabb completed 29 of 42 passes for 356 yards, two touchdowns and a 110.8 passer rating in the Eagles’ 30-13 win over the Detroit Lions. Joe Horn, WR- New Orleans Saints- Nine-yard touchdown reception from Aaron Brooks With 8:35 remaining in the game, New Orleans Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks connected with wide receiver Joe Horn for a nine-yard touchdown. Brooks’ pass was deflected by a St. Louis Rams defender, forcing Horn to reach backwards to make the catch. The touchdown gave the Saints a 22-17 lead. New Orleans went on to beat St. Louis 28-25 in overtime. Richie Anderson, RB - Dallas Cowboys - 26-yard touchdown pass to Terry Glenn Early in the fourth quarter, with his team clinging to a four-point lead over the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys running back Richie Anderson took a handoff from quarterback Vinny Testaverde and swept left before putting on the breaks and throwing a 26-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Terry Glenn. Anderson's halfback pass gave the Cowboys a 21-10 lead en route to a 21-18 victory over their NFC East division rival.
